As the new fiscal year approaches, the Western Australian government continues to release new policy notices. Recently, the Western Australian government announced that it will invest 195 million Australian dollars to start the "Reconnect WA" project to attract immigrants and international students to study, live and work in Western Australia; support skilled workers in Western Australia's priority industries to drive a stronger future.

As part of the Reconnect WA program, the WA Government has added 194 occupations to the Graduate Occupation List, bringing the total number of available occupations to over 300! Open overseas application channels, graduates can apply for up to 300+ positions!

The WA government says expanding the list of graduate occupations will help attract a broad and diverse range of skills that meet WA's current and future workforce needs.

The Skilled Migration pathway will also offer international students graduating in Western Australia the option to apply for permanent residency. That is to say, there will be more Western Australian graduates who can meet Western Australia's skilled immigration requirements and get PR easily!

In addition to prioritizing applicants already in Western Australia and Australia, the Western Australian government has expanded skilled immigration standards and will open up overseas application channels. "Meeting Western Australia's skilled workforce needs is a State Government priority to support the state's strong economic growth," Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said.

"The State Government is committed to encouraging international students to return to WA to support our international education sector and address skills shortages in key industries."

State Sponsorship Application Process

Western Australia guarantees the new fiscal year and divides the application channels into two types: General and Graduate. Applicants need to submit applications according to the following process:

  • Submit EOI application first, choose Western Australia or any state or territory
  • Meet the EOI scoring requirements of 190 or 491
  • State government issues pre-invitation
  • Applicants who are pre-invited must submit complete materials within 28 days
  • Wait for the approval of the Western Australia guarantee and receive a visa invitation from the Immigration Bureau
  • Submit a 190 or 491 visa application within two months

Western Australia has disclosed many state guarantee requirements in advance, and emphasized the need to encourage international students and graduates to continue to stay in Western Australia to develop the local economy. It is hoped that the state guarantee policy announced in the new fiscal year will be beneficial to the majority of international students!
